Complex Systems Comunity Profiles
From NECSIWiki
At the Summer Course 2006 some people though that it would be a good idea to develop further ways to interact between different members of this developing community.
We though that the interaction problems that should be addressed as the following:
1. Find a way to spread ideas about a topic in order to find answers, discuss topics, clarify things, etc.
2. Find a way to track especific people related to interests, events in which they participated, etc.
The 1st thing is being addressed in the message board (which probably should be improved and that should be discussed... mmm... in the discussion group?)
After a few thoughs we though the 2nd issue could be addressed by having a directory of the community when you put your info and then put a search engine to find the profiles that match keywords.
As you can see this is a work in progress and colaboration is greatly appreciated.
The steps I see should be followed (sure you're invited to add, change, edit these) are:
1. Set recomended information to be included in each profile (you can force someone to put information they don't want to put anyway!)
2. Find a search engine that works here (I'm pretty sure Google can do that but I don't know how)
3. Fill our profiles
4. Using it!
- Recommended information to be included in profiles
I suggest:
- Name
- Photograph
- Instant messaging contact (msn, aol, etc.)
- Events in which you have participated (so that people that also was there can find you more easily)
- Interest
- Current works/institution
- Past works/institution
- Actualy write your profile!!!
- Be aware that information put here would be available to the public so avoid putting sensitive information here (have you any ideas to improve this?)
