[edit] Multiscale Visualization

Blaise Aguera y Arcas, Microsoft Live Labs and Seadragon

Abstract

This talk centers on two software architectures: Seadragon and Photosynth. Seadragon is designed to make multiscale visual representation of information on computer displays pervasive. Photosynth, built using Seadragon, uses computer vision techniques to infer the spatial relationships among a set of photographs, both reconstructing three-dimensional environments from imagery and linking the photographs to each other in a "visual web". While this capability has a number of specialized applications, its potential as a broad data mining and social computing platform is of special interest.
