Leadership

The concept of leadership and its meaning is of great interest in the study of both organisations and teams. Interesting questions are:

• Is leadership a formal position?
• Is it an emergent position?
• Is leadership a position that has to be held by a leader?
• What are the properties that make a leader?
• Are emergent leaders more or less succesful than formal leaders?
• Is a team with a leader anymore succesful than one without? (Can teams self organise?)

A group in the 2006 NECSI Summer School carried out a study on the concepts of leadership.
