Relationship
From NECSIWiki
One of the main insights of the study of complex systems is that its properties of a system are often associated with relationships rather than with elements of the system. In fact, complexity can significantly increase when the number of relationships, or interactions as is the case in social scenarios, also increase.
Relationships can be ruined, enforced and also complicated as a system is allowed to communicate within itself. Relationships can also have a pronounced effect on the properties of the elements themselves. A metal atom in heated steal is going to change its temperature as it's neighboring atoms absorb the heat. An angry person can change a content person's mood.
When people assign properties to elements that are actually in the relationships, they may find answering fundamental questions about these properties difficult. When we consider the relationships, these problems may become easily solved.
